About Us

 Island Bound is open year-round.  We opened a small bookstore in 1995 under the National Hotel.  In 1997, we moved to a larger space next to the Post Office.

We have a staff of eight during our busy summer season.  They love books and enjoy the challenge of finding books for you.  Even though we are on an island we are able to get most special orders the next day.  We are open everyday until Christmas.  During January, February and March, we are open, but on a very limited basis.  It is so quiet out here.  We begin to extend our hours again in April, when the ferry schedule changes and the people and good weather come back.

Island Bound has hosted some great book signing events.  Many have been with local and regional authors.  Some of the New York Times bestselling authors that have stopped by are: Frank McCourt, Linda Greenlaw, Arthur Golden and James Swanson.  But our all time favorite author was Walter Cronkite.  It was as if royalty had visited Block Island.
